ERP shop integration for Juwelier Bockholt —
a shop that keeps itself up to date.

01 · Starting point

Juwelier Bockholt keeps its range — watches and jewellery from well-known brands — in the trade software Clarity & Success; the online shop runs on Shopify. Two systems that each work well on their own and know nothing about each other. Keeping articles, prices and stock in step by hand is a daily job with a range like this — and the broader the range, the tighter the margin on stock.

02 · Challenge

Building an interface that pushes data back and forth is easy. One that stays reliable in continuous operation is another matter: no overselling, no double bookings, no collapse when the inventory system goes down for maintenance.

03 · Decisions

An integration built for this case rather than a standard connector — on clear principles: the stock reconciliation writes only genuine differences and reads back to confirm; orders and customers are protected against duplicates by unambiguous keys; production and test environments are separated several times over; and every change to the live system is activated only after review — versioned and reversible.

04 · What we did

From the ERP into the shop: articles, product images, stock, categories and watch attributes such as dial or case diameter, as structured shop properties. From the shop into the ERP: every order recorded immediately, new customers added to the customer base automatically. If the ERP goes down, the integration holds the state, catches up once it returns, and reports a genuine outage with exactly one notification email. An independent watchdog monitors the sync around the clock.

05 · Result

An online shop that keeps itself up to date — overselling and double bookings are ruled out by the structure.

What we took away

Look first, then change: when a single article does not show up in the shop, the cause is rarely where you look first. We narrow it down in the data before changing anything in the system — a small correction in the right place beats an intervention in something that is running.

Good integrations are quiet: the client hears from them when something relevant comes up — not with every status message.
